Find New Clients By Pounding The Pavement

In today's online world, many people incorrectly believe that social media marketing and search engine marketing are the most important areas of any marketing plan. For a local healthcare clinic, your potential clients live and work mostly in your area - so while online marketing tactics are important, a little bit of hard work offline can have a faster and bigger impact on your business.

Why Old School Offline Marketing Works

After quality of care, the biggest factor when choosing a healthcare provider is location. So your most likely clients are the people in your neighborhood - and that's where some of your marketing efforts should be focused.

With a small investment of 500 to 1,000+ postcards or door hangers, and one afternoon, you can personally drop off your business information to the homes in your area. With even just a 2% response rate, you can find 20 new long-term clients using this marketing tactic.

How To Get Your Postcard To Stand Out

A careful balance of graphics, information, and savings, presented in a way that makes you and your brand memorable is critical.

  • Display your business name and logo along with a nice portrait photo that helps people put a face to your name.

  • Supply content in large, easy-to-read print, and use colors, font styles and formatting that match your other branded materials.

  • Provide your phone number, email address, location, and instructions for how to schedule an appointment.

Of course, a pleasant-looking flyer is just the start. You also want to provide an incentive to new clients:

  • Add a discount for first-time customers, such as $10 off the first massage treatment.

  • Add an expiration date to create a sense of urgency. Choose a date that is 2 to 3 weeks from the day you plan on delivering the postcards.

Once you have your printed postcards or door hangers, you simply need to hit the streets and drop off your information. You'll save the cost of postage and create opportunities to interact with your neighbors. As you run into people in their driveways or on the sidewalk, stop and introduce yourself! And don't neglect businesses - they are your neighbors too!

Take an afternoon to design and print a postcard (and another afternoon to hand them out) and you'll quickly see that this strategy works! And you should make this an ongoing practice - once you've had initial success, plan to do it again in a couple months.
