Get A Free Business Listing On Bing

updated on

March 26, 2023

Microsoft's Bing Places is often overlooked but is one of the top three free Internet business listing services. Bing Places is free marketing which you should take full advantage. By listing your business with Bing Places, customers may find you on Bing Maps and Bing SERPs (search engine results pages).

You don't need a website to list your business online with Bing, nor do you need advanced Internet skills. So, set aside 10 to 15 minutes and get your business online! Here's how:

  1. The first step to list your business is to go to BingPlaces.com.

  1. Click "Get Started".

  1. It's possible that your business is already listed on Bing. To find out, enter your business' name and location or phone number and click "search".

  1. If your business doesn't appear in the list, click "Create new business". You will be prompted to enter an email, such as your Microsoft account (i.e. Hotmail or Outlook) if you have one. Or, you may create a new Microsoft account.

  1. Once you've logged in or created a new account, you'll enter your business name and address and click "Next".

  1. Enter your business category information and a description of your business. Use the suggested categories provided by Bing. You may enter more than one category. For example, if you are listing your massage therapy company, you may also choose additional categories such as "day spas", "massage", "reflexologist" and whichever categories you think accurately describe your business.

  1. Choose your "Primary Category".

  1. Now, you'll enter a description of your business services. Write professionally and concisely.

  1. Enter your contact details, which includes your main phone number, main website, Email, Facebook and Twitter (if applicable) and additional phone numbers if needed.

  1. You may add up to 10 photos. We recommend adding your logo, a photo of you, and several photos of your office. This helps potential clients get familiar with you and your office environment.

  1. On the next page you'll enter your business hours.

  1. Bing verifies your business information by sending a PIN by Email or on a postcard via snail mail. If you have a business Email, such as "example@yourdomain.com" (i.e. not Hotmail or Gmail), you can verify more quickly using your Email on the next page. Otherwise, when you receive the postcard, login to your Bing Places account and enter the PIN to verify your business.

Keep in mind that you may edit or update your business' information any time through your Bing Places account. Wasn't that easy - a 15 minute investment to reach potential new clients for free!
