Tips For Getting Hired As A Massage Therapist

Once you have your license, it’s time to start your job search. While many massage therapists aspire to run their own business, gaining some experience first is beneficial. Here are a few tips to help you land your initial job.

Present Yourself Professionally

An interview is a professional meeting, even in a relaxed setting. Dress appropriately, arrive on time, be courteous, and follow up with potential employers after the interview.

Highlight Your Relevant Experience

Even if this is your first massage therapy job, you likely have valuable experience. This could include previous roles in healthcare or customer service or life experiences like active listening skills or a personal connection to clients. Use these to your advantage.

Showcase Your Hands-On Skills

Many interviews for massage therapists include a practical demonstration. Before the interview, identify your strongest skills—whether it's focusing on a specific area, making clients comfortable, or a unique massage technique. Be prepared to showcase these during your demonstration.
